Special Kay Rescue & Sanctuary came about through the short life of one cat named Special Kay. He was rescued at an abandoned Circle K car wash in Glendale, CA. SK was affectionate and loving but apparently had been dumped.He just was not feral but was clearly very ill. With great love, attention, and expense Special Kay lived for a year with an inoperable brain tumor. His days were happy and he had very little pain until one day when he didn't wake up. This special cat and his special needs coupled with his unconditional love for me inspired me to take on the cause of the feral cat population and to focus intensively on cats with disabilities and illnesses which make them unwanted.

The life of this special cat has brought hundreds of cats and dogs to my door with needs. Through networking with other non-profit animal agencies we have had hundreds of cats spayed and neutered which has decreased the population of feral cats exponentially. From there we moved on to helping to care for the "unwanted" stray dogs running the streets.

 It's taken a lot of love, hard work and dedication, but the animals make every day a joy for us!
